From the mouth of babes
When I was little I played with my
dolls, barbies, play food, wore dresses, everything was pink. You know why?
Because that is what people and the media said that I should be doing. Girls wore pink and
played with girl toys (dolls, more dolls, dress up). Boys wore blue and played with boy toys (trucks, cars,
toy hammers). What is that teaching our kids? Now a day I will tell you that it
doesn't matter if she wants to play with a car or he
wants to play with a doll maybe he
will be a better father later for it but back then I would have told you
exactly what people told me. I can't play with that it's a boy's toy. I got
over that around the age of 6 when I was in kindergarden and all through
grade school. I got made fun of for
playing soccer at recess with the boys, and playing in the mud, but I didn't
really care that much about it they could tease me if they wanted to but they
were missing out on the fun. I still see it today though except for now it is
more that it is ok for a girl to act like a boy and play with trucks andcars,
wear jeans and t-shirts, have their hair short but it still ins't ok for a boy
to play with dolls and wear pink. Why is that?
